In her Coordinator’s Corner column in the August, 2002 issue of Perspectives on Fluency and Fluency Disorders, Nan Bernstein Ratner referred to a person who wrote to the Steering Committee. I am that person who wrote the letters to draw the attention of the committee to what I believed were some serious problems in the content of the 2002 Division 4 Leadership Conference. My main concern was the lack of efficacy data in any of the reports save for two: Ryan and Ryan (2002), and one in which there was only one line, paraphrased, the child improved from 20% stuttering to 10% stuttering after a year of treatment.
