Welcome to the first Perspectives issue of 2007. The New Year has brought along with it a change in Editor. John Tetnowski, who has served admirably as the Perspectives editor for the past 3 years, has finished his editorial term. During his tenure, John designed Perspectives issues of consistently high quality and delivered topics that resonated with contemporary significance. I would like to thank him personally, for his mentorship of me as associate editor, and for the contributions he has made to the Division. As his successor, I can only hope that I can perform in the role of Editor as well as he did. I am also indebted to the new Associate Editor, Rod Gabel, for his help in planning and editing this issue. He is to be commended for all of his work, especially given the fact that during the development of this issue he and his wife welcomed a new member into their family, Anne-Marie. Congratulations Rod!
