The Board wishes to announce that Rita Thurman, who practices in Raleigh, North Carolina, is the newest Board Recognized Specialist in Fluency Disorders. Welcome Rita.
Toward the end of last year, the SBFD e-mailed a request for any BRS-FD SLP interested in mentoring. Twenty of the 160+ SLPs responded that they are willing to serve as a mentor. We thank those of you who responded yes! If it makes it any more appealing, please be aware that any time spent mentoring counts toward the 300 hours of clinical management activities required for the 3-year renewal. This might be especially helpful for those specialists decreasing their caseloads in preparation for retirement or secondary to a change in employment position. If you are unsure of the responsibilities of a mentor, either contact any Board member or look at the mentor packet that is available at http://www.stutteringspecialists.org/mentorpacket.html.
